The most common uses
INJECTION: As soon as the water starts to boil, take it off the heat and add the herb. Leave it for 10-20 minutes, strain it and use it. The usual ratios for the infusion are 1-3 teaspoons for each cup of water.
TREATMENT: Take the healing part of the plant and boil it with water. (Usually the hard parts of the plant are boiled: roots, peels, stalks, seeds). If they are finely chopped, they only need to be boiled for 5 minutes, another 5-15 minutes. Three tablespoons in two cups of water and consume in 12 hours.
OINTMENT: The ointment is made with the raw material of the infusion, decoction, juice or powder of the herb, which we work with wax or butter or even flour, until they become a body and we keep them in a jar.
TINTING: To make the tincture we take the herb and put it in a bottle with alcohol. The proportions are generally 5 parts of white alcohol of 70 degrees, for each part of the plant, (which will have been ground in a mixer or we will have beaten it in a mortar). Leave them for 5-15 days, shaking the container every now and then. Then filter the tincture with a filter paper (or with a coffee maker filter), in another container that can be kept for a long time. We use the tincture only for external use.
LOTION: It is made like an infusion or decoction and is used externally on the part that needs treatment, with gentle massage movements, to be absorbed by the skin. Lotion can be applied for skin diseases and for the scalp.
